Allowing our features to convey our individual narratives and character traits, but in the manner that we determine
It is true that aesthetic medicine makes it easy to alter our appearance, often to an unrecognizable degree.
Nevertheless, it is important to remember that our faces serve as our primary means of communication and seemingly reveal “who we are” to others we do not know.
Therefore, it is evident that unprofessional or careless aesthetic procedures may damage a person’s image and make it hard for them to communicate genuinely because their treated face no longer reflects their natural features.
Even while Botox paralyzes facial muscles, the goal of these treatments is not to permanently freeze our expressions but rather to soften and improve our appearance while preventing further skin wrinkling; unfortunately, this is not always the case.
From my experience as a doctor who has been specializing in aesthetic treatments since the 1990s, I can tell you that the standard of accepted treatments will need to increase as patients become more aware of the many mistakes made in this field. Those doctors who cannot deliver precise and genuine facial treatments will be removed from the exacting and responsible aesthetic medicine profession.
